Mothers Day

Standard
Feeling like I will be able to be me - for the first time in my life! So much has happened in the last few years - but it feels like in the last 18 months I have been unable to find the hand break. I was reminded on Mothers Day just how to STOP, SIT & BREATH. Both my kids live away from home & have done for a few years. My son lives about 90 minutes away with his gorgeous girl, but they work every weekend. My girl lives and works several hours away on a BEAUTIFUL TROPICAL ISLAND on the Great Barrier Reef. Anyway it was my first day off in a few weeks & I was trying to catch up on a few jobs around the place (my list that seems to grow) I had to do at least one of them. Then ALL OF A SUDDEN I had an unexpected delivery (ON A SUNDAY?) I could hardly believe it?? These BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS & CHOCOLATES. With a card saying with "love from your favourite children" Ha Ha Ha I was so stunned and surprised that I was laughing & crying at the same time. My thoughtful kids & their sense of humour. They know my favourite colours, my favourite chocolates & they know me!!!! I LOVE CHILDREN - that's why I work with kids & of course MY FAVOURITE CHILDREN ARE THE TWO OF THEM & Jack's girl Hayely. Just reminded me that they care MEANT THE WORLD TO ME AS THEY ARE MY WORLD!!

FREEEZING still………waiting to warm up!!

IMG_9318 IMG_9316 IMG_9345 IMG_9304 IMG_9305 IMG_9294To be honest I took these photos a few weeks back, thinking it would be the last of the winter freeze (well for us here) I know that it gets MUCH COLDER in other places around this planet of ours.   But just as I was feeling those warming sun rays on my back while having my morning cuppa only several days ago, thinking hmmmmm (I’m prepared) to go through the yearly ritual of having the pleasure of runny eyes, blowing my nose, the feeling of a constant cold, sneezing till it hurts & the BEST OF ALL – PUFFY BLOODSHOT EYES.  Having to explain to people whilst in the middle of a conversation that “I am just wiping my eyes, because I get hay fever – NOT because I am overwhelmed with emotion!” I consider that it is only for a season and I could have something much more debilitating, after all I am going to be celebrating my 48th year! I can hear that saying ‘toughen up PRINCESS’ well I can & will toughen up for THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE IN SPRING!!!! The flowers, veggies, fruit, the food, the general feeling of wanting to be out and about – ooops speaking of which TODAY is the return of a local country market after it’s Winter break as there are so many outside stalls. I have been trying to remember their motto??? Make it, Bake it, Grow it, Sew it! I think that’s how it goes and it is one of those things that nowadays people LOVE TO VISIT funny how the past makes a come back!!? I can almost smell the onions on the barbie at the scout sausage sizzle – I SO DON’T MISS THAT EVERY 2 MONTHS/: Better get on with it – it only happens on the 2nd Saturday of the month & today on my planting by the moon it says today is a good day(: I’m off to the Rokeby Market (can you see me skipping around all the plant stalls?????)  If I get a good buy I might just post again later today?

Something ALWAYS pops up to CHEER ME UP(:

IMG_8053 IMG_9821 IMG_9523This is ‘Rocky’ – If I was to choose a name for a pet/friend that I would have in my life for a potentially well over 80years I would have chosen something different. We were paired up over 18 years ago when he was the tender age of 7 and has been the MOST AMAZING company to not only me BUT for ANYONE including other animals around the farm.  He arrived on a Saturday morning and by the following Sunday afternoon was CAUSING ALL SORTS OF CONFUSION for my ducks as I was trying to herd them into their run.  I was calling “duck, duck, duck” and he started “DUCK, DUCK, DUCK!!!” I could hardly believe my ears that was only the 2nd time he had heard me call them???? Well the antics of Rocky continue on – depending on what sort of day he is having, I also believe in my heart that ALL animals must experience their ‘good days & BAD DAYS’.  I know when he is not his usual happy mischievous self, he is not calling out or wanting to interact in his funny voices & he has many for every occasion. His very latest activity is digging out in the corner of his cage & to add to this he is doing what I like to call his Tim Robbins (Shawshank Redemption) impersonation, by scratching stones up against the metal cladding. YOU THINK I’M EXAGGERATING????? Seriously he has been so hard at this task for several weeks, I could hear this noise didn’t think much of it (because I often pop things in there for him to play with or tear apart) and didn’t investigate the new noise straight away……THEN I went over and he acted like a NAUGHTY TODDLER with that “What, Who? ME????” look OH MY GOURD!!! He has made a hole through the aluminium I couldn’t see it at first because he would stop and immediately move away & if I didn’t clear off so he could get back to his job – he would distract me with some chatting & mucking around.  This was going on for a few days then ONE DAY I decided to sneak up on him and catch him off guard – well this particular time it was afternoon and the reason I found the damage was because the SUNSHINE was shinning through it!!!!! Lucky for me I have always held a dream of building a much bigger more BEAUTIFUL cage for him & it has finally WELL ALMOST come to fruition – have acquired a second hand cage that will be recycled into a BRILLIANT new home for him!!! I am so excited (: but that is where I must stop I will post some photos as it ALL TAKES PLACE & let you know how the big move goes…….CYA later xx

This weed appeared in my garden (after a neighbour had it in his) and NOW IT IS OUT OF CONTROL….I really LOATHE having to spend my precious time in the garden pulling out weeds that SOMEONE ELSE has let go CRAZY. GRRRRR

I was gladly interrupted by a 'fly in fly out' visit from Will & his Girl. He is such a handsome boy & I agree with his regal looks it was a good name the King Parrot.
